  16. ADARDEMO.PRG is a self-running demo of "A Day at the Races" (ADAR).  All
  17. the files on this disk may be placed in the same folder on any floppy
  18. disk or hard drive except for the file ROMPATCH.PRG which must be placed
  19. in an AUTO folder on your boot disk (and since the demo needs practically
  20. all the free RAM on a 1/2 meg machine you may need to place ROMPATCH.PRG
  21. in the AUTO folder by itself).  Your system must be booted from
  22. the disk containing ROMPATCH.PRG to ensure that the demo will run
  23. correctly.  After booting your system from the proper disk, double-click
  24. on adardemo.prg from low resolution to begin.  Allow the demo to run
  25. through its whole cycle a few times to watch the information contained in
  26. the horse data base grow.  NOTE - much of the digitized sound is available
  27. only on machines with at least one meg of RAM along with the purchase of
  28. "A Day at the Races Companion" (ADARC) available only from TEAM Software.

  30. ADAR is a comprehensive simulation of the horse race track environment.
  31. The research and development has taken three years to complete.  Highlights
  32. of the simulation include:
  33. . multi or single player (1 to 15 players)
  34. . buy and sell horses
  35. . select jockeys
  36. . place wagers, receive payoffs
  37. . 9 different types of wagers - win, place, show, daily double, big exacta,
  38.   exacta, quinella, trifecta, and jackpot
  39. . 4 different race types: claiming, maiden, allowance, and handicap
  40. . 4 different race lengths: 4 1/2 furlongs, 6 1/2 furlongs, 7 furlongs,
  41.   and 1 1/16 miles
  42. . a dynamic database tracks up to 500 horses, 50 jockeys, and 15 players
  43. . database maintains past performances for horses and complete statistical
  44.   histories for horses and jockeys
  45. . each horse and each jockey have their own distinct attributes, strengths,
  46.   and weaknesses
  47. . injuries to horses and jockeys, suspensions to jockeys
  48. . race scheduling controlled by you or the computer or both
  49. . colorful and exciting real-time animation
  50. . ability to 'pan' through the field of horses as the race is being run
  51. . 14 different on-line or hard-copy standings and statistics available
  52. . halls of fame maintained for horses, jockeys, and players
  53. . GEM-based program, completely mouse controlled

  56. ADAR is currently available for the Atari ST line of microcomputers.  An
  57. IBM PC version, an Amiga version, and a C64 version will be forthcoming.
