ADARDEMO.PRG is a self-running demo of "A Day at the Races" (ADAR). All
the files on this disk may be placed in the same folder on any floppy
disk or hard drive except for the file ROMPATCH.PRG which must be placed
in an AUTO folder on your boot disk (and since the demo needs practically
all the free RAM on a 1/2 meg machine you may need to place ROMPATCH.PRG
in the AUTO folder by itself). Your system must be booted from
the disk containing ROMPATCH.PRG to ensure that the demo will run
correctly. After booting your system from the proper disk, double-click
on adardemo.prg from low resolution to begin. Allow the demo to run
through its whole cycle a few times to watch the information contained in
the horse data base grow. NOTE - much of the digitized sound is available
only on machines with at least one meg of RAM along with the purchase of
"A Day at the Races Companion" (ADARC) available only from TEAM Software.
ADAR is a comprehensive simulation of the horse race track environment.
The research and development has taken three years to complete. Highlights
of the simulation include:
. multi or single player (1 to 15 players)
. buy and sell horses
. select jockeys
. place wagers, receive payoffs
. 9 different types of wagers - win, place, show, daily double, big exacta,
exacta, quinella, trifecta, and jackpot
. 4 different race types: claiming, maiden, allowance, and handicap
. 4 different race lengths: 4 1/2 furlongs, 6 1/2 furlongs, 7 furlongs,
and 1 1/16 miles
. a dynamic database tracks up to 500 horses, 50 jockeys, and 15 players
. database maintains past performances for horses and complete statistical
histories for horses and jockeys
. each horse and each jockey have their own distinct attributes, strengths,
and weaknesses
. injuries to horses and jockeys, suspensions to jockeys
. race scheduling controlled by you or the computer or both
. colorful and exciting real-time animation
. ability to 'pan' through the field of horses as the race is being run
. 14 different on-line or hard-copy standings and statistics available
. halls of fame maintained for horses, jockeys, and players
. GEM-based program, completely mouse controlled
ADAR is currently available for the Atari ST line of microcomputers. An
IBM PC version, an Amiga version, and a C64 version will be forthcoming.
